G'day fellow ocean lovers, The ocean is home to hundreds of thousands of species, from microscopic phytoplankton to the mighty humpback whale we’re lucky enough to see off the Sydney coast. But it’s also where an estimated 11 million tonnes of plastic ends up each year, and that’s in addition to the millions of metric tons of plastic already circulating in our oceans. Plastic pollution is having a serious impact on marine life, including whales. At Go Whale Watching Sydney, we believe that running a responsible, low-impact whale tour is part of the job, and that helping protect the ocean is something everyone can contribute to.
Ahoy whale watchers, If whales competed in the Olympics, they’d clean up. Heaviest animal? Gold. Loudest voice? Powerful enough to travel across oceans. Longest commute? They’ve swum further than most people fly in a lifetime. Whales never cease to amaze us, and their attributes are so impressive that they’re certified in the legendary Guinness World Records.
Greetings from the big blue, Not too long ago, spotting a humpback whale off the Sydney coast would have been a rare and extraordinary occurrence. Today, it’s an annual event spanning six months, something we look forward to every winter as these ocean giants breach, blow and slap their way along the east coast of Australia. It’s one of the most powerful conservation stories in Australia’s history, but first we have to go back 200 years to a darker chapter in the whale story.

On our midday cruise today we spotted a breaching whale about two miles off North Head. We then came across a very active pair of whales who treated all on board to an incredible variety of whale behaviours including countless breaches, head lunges, amazing tail action and pec slapping. ![Another wet day in Sydney today, this afternoon we caught up with two humpbacks a couple of miles off South Head. We followed them south and saw more whales in the distance as well as an unexpected breach.

![A wet day off Sydney today - thankfully the whales don’t mind the rain ?
On our morning trip we came across two humpback whales off Diamond Bay who were making their way south. These whales put on a great display doing multiple head lunges and some breaches too. ???
On our afternoon trip we headed back to Diamond Bay and spotted our first whales of the afternoon. We then followed a few pods of whales cruising south towards Bondi Beach.
